Named for the grandmaster of fantasy (and slightly psychedelic fiction), Lewis Carroll (1832 - 1898). An English writer of children's fiction, notably Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Carroll influenced artists such as Walt Disney and Salvador Dali. Lesser known, he also invented a way to write in the dark to avoid losing the excellent ideas that inconveniently come in the middle of the night.
One of the most widely used ornaments in medieval Europe was the signet ring. Originally signet rings were emblazoned with a family crest and they would frequently be used to stamp or sign a document. However, we think The Lewis would be the perfect host for your choice of engraving - how about the title of your best-loved novel, or an ode to your favourite author?
