Named for Harriet Powers (1893 - 1910), an African-American slave, folk artist, and quilt maker from rural Georgia. She used traditional appliqué techniques to record local legends and astronomical events on her quilts. Her art has endured the ages, quite like The Harriet vintage ring. We think she's a keeper for the history books.
Citrine, aquamarine, topaz, tourmaline and other bold, colourful lower-cost stones came to the fore during the Retro era (1945 - 1950). The tourmalines in The Harriet vintage ring are a prime example of watermelon coloured gems.
