The pear cut diamond was originally created by Lodewyk van Berquem of Belgium in the early 1400’s. In addition to creating the pear cut, van Berquem was also responsible for the placement of facets in modern diamond cuts, as well as the use of symmetry in diamond cutting. Many couples opted for pear-shaped diamonds in the 1950s.
The shape of a pear diamond halo ring combines elegant curves with eye-catching angles. It’s a very old cut, but the shape has been modified slightly over the years. It’s an unusual and remarkable shape with wonderful versatility.
