What is a hallmark?

A hallmark is a tiny stamp printed on gold jewellery to certify its purity.
If your jewellery has any of the hallmarks listed in our guide below you can swap it for Molten Store credit.

 Hallmarks we accept

Hallmarks come in all shapes and sizes (stamped, engraved, embossed)
but to be accepted for Gilt Free, they’ll need to match one of the below examples.

Your item may have a single hallmark
(ie. 9ct or 375)
or multiple hallmarks
(ie. 9ct and 375 and additional hallmarks)
Some countries use kt instead of ct in their hallmarks, so we accept both.

Finding hallmarks

How do you know if your gold has hallmarks? Easy! Check the surface of your jewellery thoroughly. Look closely, hallmarks can be very teeny.
If you can’t quite read the hallmarks on your items, you’re welcome to bring them in store for us to assess through a magnifying glass.

Necklaces
Check the necklace clasp or the backside of a pendant.
Earrings
Check the sides of posts on hoops or the backs of studs.
Rings
Check the inside of the band.
