Flowers were particularly popular in the Georgian Era (1714 - 1837). The Georgian Era is also known as the Romantic Era - romanticism worked as a major social-reforming movement in England (and it was during this time that many incredible works of literature were produced). In this time, the changing role for women in society underscored the aesthetic of Georgian jewellery. Women were commissioning their own jewellery, and tokens of love and mindfulness were common aesthetic requests - so motifs from the natural world are prevalent in Georgian jewellery.
