What is a retail replacement value?

A Retail replacement value is the price stated on an item’s valuation certificate, which has been appraised by a qualified and independent expert.

What is a valuation certificate?

A valuation certificate is a document that states the value of the piece in relation to current market conditions.

Each valuation certificate lists a detailed description of the piece - noting diamond/stone grading and information (such as clarity and carat weight) and listing any hallmarks.  

Each certificate also features an image of the item that has been valued.

Why does a valuation certificate matter?

Our valuation certificates list the retail replacement price of the item in question, as deemed by a qualified industry expert, providing an official declaration of your items’ replacement value for insurance purposes. A valuation certificate also serves as proof of ownership in the event of a claim due to theft or loss.

How do I know if an item comes with a valuation certificate?

If an item has indeed been accessed for a valuation, you’ll see a Retail Replacement Value listed next to the RRP within the product listing on

Is it possible to purchase a valuation certificate for an item that doesn’t already come with one?
