Layby terms
Layby is available for new agreements on finished fine jewellery that is physically in stock when the agreement begins. It is available online and through our James Street boutique.
Layby is not available for Bespoke, made to order pieces, demi fine jewellery, gift cards or loose gemstones.
These terms apply to new layby agreements only. Existing laybys continue under the terms agreed when they began.
Deposit and payment
A 25% deposit is required to begin a layby.
The remaining balance must be paid within 60 days from checkout for an online layby, or from purchase for an in store or phone layby.
You choose when to settle the remaining balance within that period. The balance is not automatically debited.
Your piece is held until the layby is paid in full.
If you think you may have difficulty completing payment by the due date, please contact our team before the due date so we can discuss your agreement with you.
Layby at James Street
Our fine jewellery specialists can arrange a layby with you at our James Street boutique or by phone. We will explain the written terms that apply before your agreement begins.
Cancelling your layby
You may cancel your layby before receiving your piece.
If you cancel, we offer store credit for payments made above your deposit. The credit is valid for three years from issue and can be used towards fine jewellery.
Any amount retained from your deposit as a cancellation fee is subject to your rights under Australian Consumer Law and cannot exceed Molten Store’s reasonable costs relating to your layby agreement.
Where you are entitled to a refund by law, we will refund the payments you have made less any lawful cancellation fee. Store credit is your choice and does not replace any refund entitlement you have under Australian Consumer Law.
If Molten Store cancels a layby where permitted by law, any refund owing will be provided in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
Receiving your piece
Dispatch or collection is arranged after the layby has been paid in full and any agreed resizing has been completed.
Once you receive your piece, the return conditions that apply to the way you purchased it continue to apply, together with your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
