Gold Swap is Molten Store’s gold recycling service. You can swap your unwanted solid gold jewellery for 100% of your jewellery's material value in Molten Store credit, redeemable online or in-store.
It’s valid for 3 years, so you can take your time finding the perfect piece.
We accept solid gold jewellery (yellow, white or rose gold), even if it’s broken or tangled. We can’t accept silver, gold-filled, gold-plated or vermeil pieces.
Send it in anyway. Our gold testers will determine its true gold content with a non-destructive Assay (x-ray) Machine.
Typically within a few days, depending on our queue. For your peace of mind, we'll keep you updated via email as your submission progresses through each step of the process.
Your credit is valid for all Molten Store boutiques and online purchases.
Swap offers are obligation-free. If you decline, we’ll return your jewellery to a boutique for collection or via mail if you opted for a mail-in option.
Once accepted, your gold is sent for recycling and can’t be recovered. Please be certain before accepting.
You can resubmit your jewellery later. It will be treated as a new submission.
Pop into any of our boutiques with your gold jewellery and check it in with our team who will securely transfer it to our gold-testing lab. We'll then send you updates and your obligation-free swap offer via email.

A quick way to check if your jewellery is solid gold is to look for a small hallmark stamp (e.g. 375, 585, 750) that indicates the gold's purity. Unsure? Send it in and we'll check.
If our testing discovers some of your jewellery doesn't contain solid gold, this will be reflected in your offer, and we'll recycle these pieces if you accept. If your submission doesn't contain any solid gold at all, you won't receive an offer, but we can recycle the submission or return it to you.
Nope! Your gold is safely tested with a specialised, non-destructive assay (X-ray) machine that determines its purity.
If your submission contains precious gemstones, we won't add or deduct credit from your offer. Usually, the chance of a gemstone breaking upon extraction is very high, so they will be recycled alongside your gold.
On occasion we may offer a higher price for jewellery containing precious gemstones that are able to be extracted.
If your gemstones hold sentimental value and you would like to keep these or have them remodelled into a new piece, we offer a stone extraction service. Contact us to learn more.
Submit your jewellery for Gold Swap and gemstone extraction. We’ll return your stones or hold them for a new design. The remaining gold is tested and credited to you.
We carefully assess each item. Some settings may be difficult, and in those cases we may stop the process to avoid damage.
Yes. We’ll extract all suitable stones. You choose whether to have them returned or used in your redesign.
Design something new. From rings to pendants, we’ll help you create a piece that’s truly yours.
We can’t reuse the metal directly due to its alloy mix. Instead, we issue credit and use new recycled gold to ensure quality.
We can reuse your original gem, add new stones, or redesign it into a halo or Toi et Moi setting, whatever fits your evolving style.
Right here in Brisbane by our trusted team.
Upon accepting your swap, you'll be prompted to complete an ID verification. To complete your ID verification, you'll need a valid photo ID such as a driver licence or passport, and a smartphone.
You’ll receive a confirmation email, and your store credit will be issued within one business day.
Citing your ID is a requirement of our Second Hand Dealer's license, and helps us ensure we are only purchasing jewellery from the person that actually owns it.
Your gold is melted down and used in the production of new jewellery.
A circular supply chain involves reusing and recycling exisiting materials for the production of new goods. By making the supply chain of gold circular, we can collectively eliminate the need for gold mining.
Gold mining involves extracting gold from ore which generates a significant amount of waste rock and tailings. This often leads to soil and water contamination and acid mine drainage. Additionally, gold mining operations can lead to deforestation and destruction of habitats, as well as the displacement of local communities.
In 2014, The Smithsonian Institute determined that recycling a single gold ring can prevent the production of 20 tonnes of mining waste. Based on this research, we created a formula to calculate the amount of mining waste saved through Gold Swap.
