Soirée Occasion Jewellery Care

Soirée jewellery is made for colour, movement and the pleasure of getting dressed for somewhere special. Gentle care before and after wear helps protect the plated finish, stones and pearls that give each piece its character.

Jewellery Care

Before and after wearing your piece

Put your jewellery on after fragrance, lotions, cosmetics and hair products. Remove it before showering, swimming, sleeping, exercising and household cleaning so the finish and stones have less contact with moisture, products, pressure and knocks.

After wear, gently wipe the complete piece with a clean, untreated soft dry cloth. Store it dry and separately in a soft pouch or compartment, with chains flat and clasped where practical.

Caring for the gold plated finish

Every Soirée piece is made in 18ct gold plated brass with a 2.5 micron finish.

The gold surface is the part to care for directly. Use a plain soft dry cloth and a light touch. Friction, cosmetics, household chemicals and prolonged moisture can affect a plated finish, so removing the piece for water, exercise and household cleaning is useful everyday care.

Do not use silver polish, brass polish, metal polishing products or abrasive cleaners on the plated surface. Do not soak the piece or try to polish through the gold finish.

Pearls and stones

The material names listed for your piece are the best guide. Colour alone is not enough to identify a stone or choose a cleaning method.

Lab grown describes how a stone was created. It does not make one cleaning method universally suitable for the complete jewellery.

For Soirée pieces, keep home cleaning to the dry cloth guidance on this page. Do not use home ultrasonic or steam cleaning. A complete piece may combine plating, pearls and several stones with different requirements.

Cultured freshwater pearl

Pearls have a soft surface and are sensitive to abrasion, chemicals and heat.

After wear, wipe them with a very soft dry cloth. Keep them away from fragrance, cosmetics and prolonged moisture. Do not soak or brush pearls, and do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning.

Store pearl pieces separately from harder jewellery.

Peach moonstone

Protect peach moonstone from hard knocks, high heat and sudden temperature changes.

Use the common soft dry cloth routine. Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning.

Lab grown morganite

Use a clean soft dry cloth over the complete piece and protect the stone from knocks and abrasive contact.

The lab grown description does not override the care needed by the plated finish, pearls or other stones in the same piece.

Strawberry quartz

Use a clean soft dry cloth and store the piece separately from harder jewellery.

Avoid abrasive rubbing and follow the common plated finish care for the complete piece.

Rose quartz

Use a clean soft dry cloth for routine care.

Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning.

Green aventurine

Use the common soft dry cloth routine and protect the piece from knocks and abrasive contact.

The plated finish and any other stones or pearls in the piece still govern the complete care routine.

Green amethyst

Use a clean soft dry cloth and protect the piece from knocks and abrasive contact.

Keep home care to the common dry routine for the complete Soirée piece.

Prehnite

Use a clean soft dry cloth with a light touch and store the piece separately when not worn.

Avoid abrasive rubbing and follow the common plated finish care for the complete piece.

Rainbow quartz

Use a clean soft dry cloth for routine care and avoid abrasive rubbing.

Follow the common dry routine across the complete piece rather than cleaning the stone separately from its setting and finish.

Lab grown pink tourmaline

Protect the stone from high heat and sudden temperature change.

Use a soft dry cloth for routine care. Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning.

Citrine

Use a clean soft dry cloth for routine care and protect the stone from heat.

Do not use steam cleaning. Keep home care to the common dry routine for the complete piece.

Labradorite

Use a clean soft dry cloth and store the piece separately from harder jewellery.

Avoid abrasive rubbing and follow the plated finish guidance for the complete piece.

Lab grown iolite

Use the common soft dry cloth routine and protect the piece from knocks and abrasive contact.

The lab grown description does not determine a separate cleaning method for the complete jewellery.

Lab grown blue topaz

Protect blue topaz from knocks, pressure and abrupt or uneven heat.

Use a soft dry cloth for routine care. Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning.

Natural blue topaz

Protect blue topaz from knocks, pressure and abrupt or uneven heat.

Use a soft dry cloth for routine care. Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning.

Natural blue calcite onyx

Use a clean soft dry cloth with a light touch and avoid abrasive rubbing.

Keep metal polishing products away from the stone and follow the gentle dry routine for the plated finish around it.

Chains and closures

Protect chains from pulling, snagging and significantly heavier layers that can draw unevenly on them. Store them flat and clasped where practical, and handle closures gently.

If a closure no longer feels reliable or a stone moves in its setting, set the piece aside and ask our team before wearing it again.

A question about your piece?

If you are unsure what your piece contains, a mark remains after routine care, or you have noticed a change in a stone, setting, closure or plated finish, our team can help.

A piece name or order reference is useful if you have it, but neither is required.
